Traditional fire cupping is an ancient Chinese treatment, where a mild vacuum is created inside a glass “cup” and then placed on the skin. The vacuum effect causes the skin and superficial layers of tissue to rise into the vessel creating a seal. By stimulating the skins surface and underlying muscles, accumulated toxins are broken down and released increasing blood, fluid and chi circulation.
Cupping can be used on the neck, shoulders, back, sacral area, hips, abdomen, thighs, upper and lower arms and in some cases the souls of the feet and palms of the hands.
There is a multitude of conditions cupping is beneficial for including spasms, pain and cramps, tightness, numbness, stiffness of the back and neck, headaches, colds and influenza, post surgery adhesion’s, stretch marks, varicose veins, stomach aches and gastric pain.
Cupping is also great for athletes and sporting injuries as it assists muscles to maintain strength and flexibility by reducing lactic acid and aids with the flow of nutrients to muscles and tissue in order to repair.
